SIMPSON: ’2006 TAUGHT ME WHO I AM’

Jessica Simpson is refusing to turn her back on a turbulent 2006, insisting the last 12 months have taught her more about herself than any other experiences to date. The pop star and actress enjoyed mixed fortunes last year after finalising her divorce from Nick Lachey and, in December (06), making headlines by messing up a rendition of Dolly Parton’s hit 9 TO 5 during a Kennedy Center Honors tribute. But despite the emotional turmoil and bad press, Simpson is putting on a brave face. She says, “This time last year, I really thought I knew myself completely. But I didn’t at all. I was in this place where I wasn’t going up or down or figuring anything out. I was so complacent. “Everything that happened last year made me realise what I want from life and what’s important. I’ve learned so much about myself and I’ve taken on a whole new perspective.”
