Sad Jessica Turns To Sweats

When Jessica Simpson’s relationships are in distress, she turns to sweats!

In the months following her 2005 Thanksgiving split from Nick Lachey, Simpson traded her normally polished style for shlubby lay-about gear.

Now that her 8-month relationship with John Mayer, 29, is on the rocks, she’s back in the loungewear.

After the on-off couple returned from a disastrous vacation to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, last week, Simpson, 26, was spotted sporting unkept hair, sneakers and two different sweatsuits on May 30.

So what prompted Simpson’s latest sartorial crisis?

She and Mayer — who split May 18 only to reunite two days later in NYC — cut short a luxe Memorial Day weekend getaway at the Villas Del Mar in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, after a Jacuzzi-side fight on May 26 apparently left both in tears.

“It was obvious they were having a discussion that wasn’t going well,” an onlooker tells Us. Simpson “put her head in her hands. She seemed really sad.”
