When pop singer and actress Jessica Simpson went to Australia recently to support kid sister, fellow poppette Ashlee Simpson, she apparently ran into rocker James Blunt, almost literally, as she hunted him down, according to a story in Star magazine.
The Simpson girls were in the outback for the recent MTV Australia Video Music Awards, when the elder sister learned that the long-haired, bearded singer was there, and let it be known through a friend that she “was determined to meet him.”

The gossip-sphere says the girl must have got her man, because Blunt reported took her phone number, and “she was glowing the rest of the night.”

The rocker is the opposite end of the universe in appearance from her all-American ex-Nick Lachey with his tatoos, muscles, and clean shaven face. The only thing the two (three?) have in common is singing, from the looks of it.

Only “Extra” has the celebrity 411 on all things Jessica Simpson! Things got a little playful when we caught up with the fun-loving and relaxed star over the weekend, grocery shopping with her new constant companion and stylist, Ken Paves.

The duo stopped by a supermarket in Los Angeles, where she playfully hit him with a turkey breast, then showed off her shoe line. “I’m wearing my shoes, give it a promo; at least do that,” she teased before admitting the roses she carried, “Are for myself. I buy myself roses.”

But “Extra” has learned the reason Jess has been hanging out with Paves so much these days. In addition to being close friends, they’re extending her style empire to include hair extensions. Simpson sports these quite often, and they have become her signature red carpet look.

Once the venture is complete, it may make Jessica one of the busiest 25-year-old stars alive. And on her to-do list recently was a top-secret dinner with her ex, Nick Lachey.

So what’s the deal with their secret union? Insiders reveal Simpson wanted a face to face with Lachey to ask him to not be so loose-lipped in interviews. In fact, “Extra” has learned Jess turned down a cover story in Vanity Fair because she did not want to do a tell-all interview.

She will, however, do upcoming covers for both Maxim and Cosmo Girl. “Of course she’s heartbroken about it,” revealed Cosmo Girl’s Susan Schulz. “But she’s really moving on, trying to kind of focus on her career.”

A career that is forging ahead at a lightning speed. From the launch of her ever growing clothing line to her new album and new movie, “Employee of the Month,” Jessica is worth an estimated $100 million!

Even the young, rich and famous like Jessica Simpson shop for their groceries.

The former ‘Newlyweds’ star and her hairstylist/good friend Ken Paves stocked up on essentials like tortilla chips, wine and Sprite on a recent trip to a local LA supermarket.

In the process of divorcing from hubby Nick Lachey, Jessica even admitted the roses she bought were for herself.

Something everyone can buy from Jessica are shoes and handbags from her new line. The sexy singer modeled samples to the paparazzi as she exited the supermarket.

Apparently divorce isn’t wearing her out.

Have Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey been caught in a romantic tryst? That’s what a report suggests as apparently the pair have been sneaking off to the San Fernando Valley to meet in what is described as ‘discreet hotels.”

This should give Jess and Nick fans some hope.

But is it true?

Nick would seem to have to work Jessica into his very busy schedule of dating, but the two are very familiar and still very married.

The romantics will be cheering for this.

One of those is gossip king Mike Walker and as earlier reported by Lynda Johnson he writes that the pair are meeting at discreet hotels in the Valley and he writes that Jessica reportedly dished to a source:

“We still have our problems, but we’re still very attached to each other.” She continued, according to the source by adding “We still have the need for love and affection.”

The report says that Jessica is shy about the whole affair - or really non-affair as they are still legally married. Walker even reiterates his 10-1 prediction that the pair will never divorce and will reunite.

Lynda concludes - Jess and Nick fans will be hoping he’s right with his Vegas like prediction.

No kidding - their fans are passionately holding on for the pair to reunite.

Jessica Simpson must have been having a bad hair day because she absolutely did not want her picture taken this weekend.

Paparazzi swarmed the songbird on Saturday as she left Marlow, an antique store in Los Angeles. Simpson shielded herself with a bag filled with her purchases as she hopped in the passenger seat of a Mercedes SUV and drove off.

Jessica was so determined not to be seen that she put her head between her knees in vehicle.
The photographers asked her what she thinks of Nick’s new album but she didn’t answer.

Perhaps there may be hope for a Adam Levine and Jessica Simpson spark after all. The two sexy singers were rumored to have had a brief fling right after Jessica dumped then hubby Nick Lachey.

Now - at the very least chivalry is not dead as Adam has rushed to defend Jessica on Nick’s Rolling Stone interview, according to this week’s Life & Style.

Lachey hinted in the interview that Jessica may have cheated on him during his emotional spill to the magazine saying he wasn’t sure if she was sleeping around.

Levine reportedly called Jessica to help her cope.

Life & Style Weekly will report that Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine, who had a brief fling with Jess after her separation (and allegedly when she was married, though both deny it). Adam wanted to offer his condolences about the article, which mentioned their rumored affair.

“He was like, Is Nick crazy?” says the insider.

“Adam told Jess, ‘Nick will never take responsibility. He’ll blame Joe [Jess’ father]. He’ll blame you. He’ll blame Newlyweds, the media, whatever. But he’ll never admit that he had anything to do with the marriage failing.’”

Jessica Simpson is said to be “devastated” by a recent tell-all interview that her ex, Nick Lachey, gave to a magazine about their relationship.

In the published interview Lachey said he still loved Jessica, felt “blindsided” and “sucker punched” by her decision to divorce and that she refused to try counseling.

Jessica’s reaction? “She was devastated, heartbroken,” says an insider. “She didn’t think he would do that.”

Friends gathered at Simpson’s house on the day the article came out to console her. And Lachey himself even called to check in. “He wanted her to hear it from him,” says a Lachey friend. “He felt bad that she was upset. (But) Nick didn’t apologize, because the things he said (in the article) only demonstrate that he loves her.”

Simpson sees it differently. “What really upset her was the timing,” says the insider. “Nick waited until two weeks before for his album to debut (Lachey’s CD, What’s Left of Me, will be released May 9] to tell a reporter that he loved Jessica. That’s not cool.” Furthermore, the insider adds, “he keeps saying, ‘I’m sorry I couldn’t make her happy,’ but he is not choosing to say why.”

For her part, Simpson chooses to remain tight-lipped. She was scheduled to be interviewed for a Vanity Fair cover story, but that has since been canceled after it became clear that she would have to talk about the divorce. “She will not take the low road,” says the insider.

Instead she is throwing herself into recording her next album and launching a line of hair extensions. “Financially and businesswise, she’s hotter than she’s ever been,” says the insider.

In fact, money may be a sticking point between the two. Soon after Jessica filed for divorce in December, Nick specified that he reserved the right to ask for spousal support, though the published interview says he denies he will ask for alimony. Another possible sore point, adds the insider: “The family thinks Nick is attacking everybody but himself.”

But his friends beg to differ. “Nick took responsibility for the split more than anyone else,” says a friend.

While Jessica’s father and manager, Joe, is sometimes mentioned as a force behind the breakup, the friend says, “Nick doesn’t blame Joe. It’s no one’s fault. He doesn’t blame Jessica.”

Still, the friend adds, “Nick never wanted this marriage to end. He would never want to hurt her.”

Nick Lachey has reportedly phoned Jessica Simpson and apologized “out of respect,” to his ex-wife a published report will detail this week.

Life & Style Weekly details in the Friday edition of the magazine that Jessica Simpson was so overcome by emotion after seeing the Nick Rolling Stone interview that implied she may have cheated on him that she was crying at her LA home on April 19 and “barely able to breathe,” says an insider.

Then Jessica reportedly receives a phone call from Nick and an apology.

Nick called to apologize “out of respect,” says a Nick insider, “because he didn’t say anything terrible [in the arti¬cle].” But the quote from the story that cut Jess to the core hardly sounds respectful, L&S reports.

“I don’t know if there were other men,” Nick tearfully told the mag¬azine. “Sometimes I think it would be easier if I had just walked into the house and found her in bed with a guy. Then I wouldn’t have to deal with the uncer¬tainty of adultery.”

Jessica has always maintained that she never cheated on Nick while they were together.

Expect this to again ramp up the speculation that the pair may re-unite. One reason that is cited in the article is Nick’s ability to repel women. Calling it the “Nick-ochet effect” the magazine notes accurately that after just a few dates with him, they bounce back to their former boyfriends!
