When it came time for Jessica Simpson to shoot the video for her new single “A Public Affair,” she made a couple of calls to some all-star friends. Eva Longoria, Christina Applegate and Christina Milian all join the pop-princess for the rollerskating themed shoot, making them some of the hottest women on wheels.

Simpson’s certainly having a bit more fun with her record than ex Nick Lachey’s somber “What’s Left of Me.” “My album’s definitely a reflection of where I am this very moment. It’s happy, it’s summer, I just want to get out with my girlfriends and have a good time and enjoy myself,” says Jessica about the new record.

So how did Simpson get them all to take a day to skate with her? “She said you better be there biatch!” says Applegate while getting a foot massage from Brett Ratner. “No. She just asked me please, so I said of course.”

Longoria was a little worried about the shoot since it had been a while since she last laced up. “8th grade maybe. It’s been a while, but Applegate is an expert so if I fall, I’m bringing her down with me.”

Simpson’s new album, “A Public Affair,” is set for release August 29th.

Jessica Simpson’s music video shoot for her new single “Public Affair” was unreal! They started shooting at 8pm and went tll 9am. We got there around 11pm and chilled for a little. We just stood around for a bit to see what was up, ran into Joe Simpson and some other people on set. They started shooting, did several scenes, some were pretty sexual I might add…one included an ice cream cone…another was some action in the camera booth. Anyways, Jeff and I met some flames there…one chick was Valerie..check her our at www.valeriamusic.com. She was so fire…another was Natalie, no link for her though, o well. After talking a bit, we continued to watch the shoot and see Jessica perform, which was unbelievable. She ABSOLUTELY has the best, most gorgeous smile and body I have ever seen, no joke…o and did I mention she’s funny on set? Wow, this was the best experience ever, and got to network with some cool important people. One interesting moment was when Andy Dick gave me his number and said we should hang out sometime. It was pretty creepy, I won’t lie. Anyways, I haven’t slept now since 1am two days ago, and its 1030am now, so I’m gonna chill and prob go to bed early tonight…after Entourage of course! Jessica Simpson posted her new single “A Public Affair” on her website on Friday, only to receive a barrage of criticism claiming the song sounds eerily similar to Madonna’s hit “Holiday.” Simpson’s single is the title track from her new album “And The Band Played On,” which is set to be released on August 29.

According TMZ, “The single appears to bear a striking resemblance to Madonna’s 1983 hit Holiday.”

A representative for Simpson has dismissed the claims telling the website, “It is a fun summer single and comparing it to retro Madonna is flattering!”

A friend of Nick Lachey’s is denying that Nick got involved with Vanessa Minnillo before he split from wife Jessica Simpson.

Life & Style magazine is reporting that Jessica believes Nick had an affair with Vanessa but a source close to Nick is denying it:

“He loved [Jessica] throughout the marriage and still does. She’s the one that decided to get a divorce. It wasn’t Nick’s decision.”

But the friend is not denying Nick’s much-photographed relationship with Vanessa now: “He lost the love of his life. That boy needs someone to make him smile.”

Meanwhile, Jessica is playing down reports that she is dating Jared Leto. The couple were rumoured to be dating after being spotted together recently. In an interview with Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show in Los Angeles, when asked about it, Jessica gasped “Don’t ask me about that! It was just a night out!”

Ryan pushed further, asking: “So you guys were at the same place at the same time?” but Jessica just replied: “We were, isn’t that a coincidence? We said ‘Hi’ and gave each other a hug and somehow it became this whole huge story. He’s a friend.”

For the longest time, fans of ‘newlyweds’ Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey were firmly in the camp that the two should reunite and keep there marriage together.

But as the finalization of their divorce steams towards the finish line – it appears that some fans now have different ideas.

A recent poll by In Touch now shows that Vanessa Minnillo is the choice for “the right woman” over Jessica Simpson for Nick Lachey. Kim Kardashian was also included in the poll, and came in third.

None of this should surprise.

Nick’s fans want to see him move forward and find a new gal that can make him happy. Despite the fact that he has been on a Hollywood dating spree, speculation is that Vanessa may be the one to settle him down – at least for a bit.

He and Vanessa have given up on denying their relationship as Nick and his “What’s Left of Me” music video co-star Vanessa have been spotted all over North America and long range lenses have spotted then canoodling on more than one occasion.

Jessica is said to be ‘devastated’ as she used to be buddies with Minnillo. But no matter, Nick and Vanessa appear to be quite happy, at least for now.

And fans agree – according to the poll.

Jessica Simpson will on Aug. 29 release her first post-divorce album, “A Public Affair,” which will be preceded by the single of the same name.

Simpson is listed as a co-writer on nine of the 12 songs on the Epic release.

The single was co-written by Simpson and Johnta Austin; the accompanying video was shot over the weekend by director Brett Ratner (“X-Men: The Last Stand”) and includes appearances by Eva Longoria, Christina Applegate, Ryan Seacrest, Christina Milian, Andy Dick and Maria Menounos. It will premiere July 19 on MTV’s “TRL.”

Fans who pre-order the album from Simpson’s Web site will be e-mailed the new single July 5 and receive previews of two other songs Aug. 1. This edition of “A Public Affair” will be bundled with an exclusive DVD.

“A Public Affair” is the follow-up to 2003′s “In This Skin,” which has sold more than 2.9 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey are inching ever so close to the finalization of their divorce. And recently Nick has been photographed everywhere with new gal Vanessa Minnillo.

Jessica is said to be crushed by the pictures and Life & Style is reporting that Jessica believes Nick may have been with Vanessa while they were still married. Not so – a pal of Nick’s tells the magazine.

Vanessa and Nick have been spotted in three countries of late. First they were snapped by photographer in Mexico, next here in America and now north of the border in Canada, the report reads.

According to the mag – Vanessa showed up in Toronto at a Lachey show and the pair were canoodling at Toronto’s ‘Ultra Supper Club.’

So – what does Jessica think? The actress and singer is said to be ‘devastated’ according to a report in Star Magazine.

Latest: Jessica Simpson has slammed reports she is dating actor Jared Leto, insisting they just happened to run into each other during a night out on the town recently. Simpson appeared on Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS-FM radio show in Los Angeles yesterday (23JUN06) and claims her encounter with the Alexander star was entirely innocent. When Seacrest asked her if she was dating Cameron Diaz’s ex-boyfriend she shot back, “Don’t ask me about that! It was just a night out!” Seacrest replied, “So you guys were at the same place at the same time?” Simpson replied, ‘We were, isn’t that a coincidence? We said ‘Hi’ and gave each other a hug and somehow it became this whole huge story. He’s a friend.” The singer was scheduled to shoot the music video for her new single ‘Public Affair’ in Los Angeles yesterday, where Seacrest will appear as a limo driver taking Simpson and pals, including Eva Longoria, to a rink to roller skate.
