Jessica Simpson is in New York City this week to promote her new music video, “A Public Affair” — it premieres on MTV’s “TRL” today.

Cameras caught Jessica headed to a photo shoot downtown, wearing a flowing green dress and mugging for the cameras. She had her stylist, Ken Paves, by her side.

Later on, photogs caught up with her again, and the blonde bombshell loudly declared, “I love New York!”

We’re particularly eager to see Jessica on TRL today — will MTV’s Vanessa Minnillo, Nick Lachey’s new squeeze, be on hand to interview her? That would be uncomfortable. Check back later to find out.

Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey didn’t have to wait until the Teen Choice Awards for an awkward encounter. The newly divorced couple had a three’s-a-crowd moment in the early morning hours of July 15 when Simpson crossed paths with Lachey and gal pal Vanessa Minnillo at L.A.’s intimate Hyde Lounge.

As PEOPLE reports in its new issue, Simpson arrived first at the hot spot, where she chatted with friend and hairstylist Ken Paves. “Jessica was having a grand time,” a fellow clubgoer tells PEOPLE. “She was totally vibing the music.”

Then Lachey and Minnillo arrived hand-in-hand. “Jessica’s rhythm totally changed. She was silent and stopped moving,” says the witness. “It looked like she was going to shoot out a laser beam and incinerate them.” Lachey, on the other hand, “never broke a sweat,” says another observer.

While several people at the club tell PEOPLE the two never interacted, close friends of both Simpson and Lachey report that Lachey came over to chat and give his ex a hug. “Let’s face it, it’s going to be a little awkward, but they both handled it well,” says a source close to Lachey. “They behaved like two people moving on.”

“There’s no hostility between Nick and Jessica,” adds a Simpson pal, who says Simpson was nonetheless disturbed when Lachey engaged in a “heavy make-out session” with Minnillo. “She didn’t need to see (that).”

Jessica Simpson recently celebrated her 26th birthday — and finalized divorce — with close friends and family in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

The singer, who celebrated her 26th birthday on Monday (10 July), was snapped at soaking in the sun at a private residence wearing a bikini, cowboy hat, oversized sunglasses, and a towel.

Simpson said that though she loved her body, she was shy about putting it on display.

“I love my body. I’m just not one to show off. I’m shy about it,” TMZ.com quoted her, as saying.

“There’s something very empowering about curves. You can’t strut your stuff when you’re skinny,” she added.

People magazine reported that this year’s birthday celebration for the singer varied greatly from her elaborate party last year, which featured over 150 revelers including her now ex-husband, Nick Lachey.

Simpson is also scheduled to be the host of the 2006 Teen Choice Awards on Aug. 20, which will likely feature appearances by award nominees Lachey and his current girlfriend, Vanessa Minnillo.

Singer Jessica Simpson is allowing fans to purchase personalized versions of her song “A Public Affair” from Yahoo! Music.

There is a list of 500 names for fans to choose from, once they choose their name the song will be able to immediately downloaded, containing three personalized shout outs. If the person has a unique name that is not on the list, their song will be delivered in approximately 1-3 weeks, CBS reported Friday.

The video for her single “A Public Affair” is out on July 19 and features Eva Longoria, Christina Milian and Christina Applegate.

Simpson’s album, also titled “A Public Affair,” is slated for release on Aug. 29.
