Singer/actress Jessica Simpson has set herself a challenge – to learn to speak fluent French in less than four months.

The 26-year-old star is convinced she’ll pick up the language in no time if she puts her mind to it.

Simpson says, “I work best under pressure. So I’ve given myself until the end of May to be able to speak French like a natural. Think I can do it?”

Jessica Simpson has revealed that she would like to have three children – but will adopt at least her first one.

She told Star magazine: “I want to adopt before I actually have my own kids. I want three kids – but I don’t know if I can give birth three times. I’ll have to see how much pain is involved first time round!”

“Ever since I was a kid I said I wanted to save the world somehow, I didn’t know how. I think I’ll end up doing things that can touch somebody in some way that’s good – like through orphanages.”

“I think Angelina Jolie has done amazing things. The international adoption rate has skyrocketed.”

Jessica has previously spoken about wanting to adopt a child from an orphanage in Mexico.

Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey still keep in contact. In an upcoming interview with Elle Magazine Simpson, 26, says she’s still in touch with Lachey, 33 all the time. “He’s so much a part of my life, how could I not be? Any guy who’s going to be with me from this day forward has to understand that.”

Maybe Nick should make the same declaration. Star Magazine is reporting that his gal Vanessa Minnillo is none too happy that the two former ‘Newlyweds‘ still communicate.

The weekly entertainment magazine is set to report in this week’s issue that Nick may think honesty is the best policy, but it’s causing strife in his love life. Nick recently told Vanessa Minnillo, 26, that he’d spoken on the phone with ex-wife Jessica Simpson, 26, and a friend says the MTV host “went ballistic” according to the report.

Why? “Vanessa’s suspicious of Nick’s feelings for Jess- if he’s truly over her,” a friend tells the entertainment magazine. But friends say she has no reason to worry. “Nick has talked about marrying Vanessa, and he didn’t want Jess blind-sided by the news,” says a source. “Jess is still an issue between them, but they’ll get it worked out.”

In the meantime, Vanessa might want to chill, the source speculates. “She’s showing Nick a new side of herself, and I don’t know if it’s that attractive,” the friend says.

The reason why singer Jessica Simpson is always seen with her pet pooch Daisy these days, is because she believes that taking care of the dog is helping her hone her skills to be a mom.

Daisy, named after Simpson’s character in The Dukes of Hazard, hitched a ride in a specially designed “doggie bag” when she accompanied the singer on a shopping trip this week.

Simpson revealed that the pet pooch went everywhere with her, and that taking care of her four-legged friend is ‘preparing’ the singer for the day when she has her own kids.

“She goes with me everywhere. It’s preparing me to be a mother, I think,” Hello magazine quoted her, as saying.

The ‘Public Affair’ singer recently revealed that she was thinking about starting a family, and that she wanted three kids.

However, what Jessica doesn’t seem to be sure about, is whether two out of those three kids will be biological or adopted.

“I want three kids – but I don’t know if I can give birth three times. I’ll have to see how much pain is involved first time round!” she said.

Jessica Simpson is in talks to appear in cult British sci-fi show Doctor Who, it has been reported. Bosses at the BBC are approaching A-list stars to cameo in the upcoming series in an attempt to add a touch of Hollywood glamor to the show and have contacted Jessica.

A source said: “It’s a great idea. Having Jessica on the show will help sell it to the US.”

Sexy Jessica Biel is also rumored to be on TV bosses’ hit list. Biel – who starred in Blade Trinity and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake – was recently linked to Justin Timberlake after she joined him on a snow-boarding holiday.

Doctor Who writer Russell T Davies is desperate for Britney Spears to join the time-traveling adventurer. He said: “I’d love Britney to do it. It would be fun.”

The sci-fi drama, a cult hit since the 60s, was re-launched in 2005 starring Gone In Sixty Seconds villain Christopher Eccelston and former singer Billie Piper.

The Doctor is currently played by Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire actor David Tennant.

Jessica Simpson knew she had found her new home in the Hollywood Hills after she went to view it and it “hugged” her.

The 26-year-old was searching for her own place after divorcing Nick Lachey and she admits she immediately fell in love with the vine-covered home in Coldwater Canyon, Los Angeles.

Simpson purchased the mansion from high-powered Hollywood manager Rick Yorn. It was once owned by US talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.

The star tells American Elle magazine, “I ran into Ellen the other night, and she said it was her favourite house of all time. It was the second house I looked at, and I fell in love with it. I walked into it and it just hugged me.”

Simpson says her new home suits her much better than the large Mediterranean “McMansion” she shared with Lachey during the filming of their reality show Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica.

She adds, “This place is totally different. I’m not really a big-house fan.”
