Earlier reports had suggested that Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey’s divorce would be finalized this weekend, specifically June 17. Unless it has yet to be announced (highly unlikely with the court house sources of TMZ) that has proven to be a bad prediction.

The source was Life & Style Weekly and now the same magazine explains why the divorce has stalled. Money.

In a divorce details ‘item’ the magazine explains that the sides are getting closer. “Some progress has been made recently,” a Jessica family friend dished to the magazine about the divorce proceedings.

The reason — reports Life & Style - Jessica has upped her financial offer to Nick from a reported $7.5 million to the $8 million range.

Now the divorce D-Day is more up in the air. The insider tells the weekly magazine that “It should only take a few more weeks before things are finalized.”
