Jess talks about her collection, and that meat t-shirt

Earlier this year, Jessica wore a T-shirt with the slogan “Real Girls Eat Meat.”

Some people thought Jess was taking a stab at singer Carrie Underwood, who is a vegetarian and the former girlfriend of Jessica’s current boyfriend Tony Romo.

PETA and Pamela Anderson also had an opinion on the T-Shirt, but I won’t even write what they said.

Jessica says she wasn’t completely surprised by the reaction, but insists it had nothing to do with Underwood.

“They’re all about animals,” she says. “I love animals too but I definitely eat meat. I love vegetables but I could not be a vegetarian. I wish I could but I really do like meat. And yeah, I caught a lot from that but I just wore the shirt because I thought it was funny, I didn’t know that it was going to be so offensive to so many people. Oops.”

Where Simpson hasn’t made too many faux pas is in her business sense, especially her “expanding” fashion line called The Jessica Simpson Collection.

“Right now we have everything from shoes, handbags, eyewear, bathing suits, lingerie is coming … did I say eyewear?” Simpson asks.

“(To her assistant) What else do I proof? What? Oh we’re starting dresses right now and they’re going to be so cute. And then I think next up is luggage. You need something to put everything that you buy in, right?”

She also would like the line to continue growing.

“It represents my name and I want it to be a brand that’s around for the next 20 years or more,” she says. “People have taken such a liking to it and it’s really comfortable, affordable and accessible. I enjoy it.”
